Top 5 List in Family Medicine
1. Don’t do imaging for low back pain within the first six weeks, unless the patient has red flags like progressive neurological deficits. Low back pain is the fifth most common reason for all physician visits, but early imaging only increases costs without improving patient outcomes.
2. Don’t routinely prescribe antibiotics for mild or moderate sinusitis, unless symptoms last more than seven days or worsen after an initial improvement. Despite the fact that most sinusitis is caused by a viral infection, antibiotics are still prescribed in more than 80% of outpatient cases. That adds up: each year sinusitis results in 16 million office visits and $5.8 billion in costs, even though viral infections will clear on their own.
3. Don’t order annual ECGs or other cardiac screening for healthy, low-risk patients with no symptoms. False-positives and other potential harms of the tests, such as unnecessary invasive procedures and overtreatment, are likely to exceed the benefits.
4. Don’t perform Pap tests on patients under 21 or in women who have had hysterectomies for benign disease. In these populations, Pap smears tend to cause unnecessary anxiety and cost, with no improvement in patient outcomes.
5. Don’t do DEXA bone scans to screen for osteoporosis in women under 65 or men under 70 with no risk factors. The scans aren’t cost-effective in younger patients, unless they have risk factors like calcium or vitamin D deficiency, fractures after age 50, long-term corticosteroid use, smoking or alcoholism.

What can I do to be healthy?

Our teacher propose us to do the questionnaire: What can I do to be healthy?
I ask you to help me. I know that many people keep the healthy life style. Let's try to add more and more people be healthy. A proactive approach to health involves knowing where you stand for your age and gender in regard to physical health standards.  Yes, 65% of all deaths in adults are caused by heart disease, cancer and stroke. In many cases, these diseases were preventable. Many of the behaviors that cause these diseases begin at a young age. For example, if you use tobacco as a teenager, you're more likely to get heart disease, cancer or stroke when you're an adult.

What is the healthy way of life?

 Stop engaging in risky behavior.
Eat well.
Bolster your immune system.
Improve your sleep quality.
Get in shape.
Maintain your personal hygiene.
Find emotional balance.
Exercise daily or if not possible twice or thrice a week.
To be heathy or not ? It's your choose and your desire. You are creater of your life, your must think about your future. To be healthy shoud be one of the aim of your life, it's important, because you think not only for your self, but for young generation also.
To be healthy we should avoid different bad habits that can affect our health. In my opinion, smoking and drinking too much alcohol, are the worst ones. It's common knowledge that smoking and drinking can shorten our lives dramatically. Smoking, for example, causes a number of heart and lung diseases, such as pneumonia, emphysema and cancer. Besides, it makes your teeth yellow and skin unhealthy. Fortunately, in recent years smoking has received a lot of bad publicity, and fewer people smoke nowadays. Some companies don't employ people who are smokers. Smoking has been banned in most public places because everyone agrees it does harm to our health. I don't smoke, because I don't want to have unhealthy skin and teeth and die young.
